Op de verjaardag van onze Koning Willem kunnen zelfs wij niet stilzitten. Daarom doen we het voor deze Sonoor een beetje anders en programmeren we niet twee maar vier zeer getalenteerde DJ's.

Ays en Kuriosa delen een liefde voor het soulvolle. Door eindeloos crate digging en zorgvuldige curatie draaien ze alleen de fijnste verzameling organische en uplifting sounds. Het resultaat zal je zeker een warm en donzig gevoel geven, zoals iedereen kan bevestigen die ooit naar Love Transmission is geweest, de intieme disco-clubavond die ze samen organiseren.

Crate digger en producer extraordinaire Glenn Hill werkt samen met multi-talent Bob Roche, die naast DJ ook bas speelt in de zeer aan te bevelen discoband Another Taste. Verwacht een dansbare mix van Braziliaanse boogie, disco met onweerstaanbare vocalen en funk uit de jaren 70 met baslijnen zo warm als augustus.

We beginnen de avond met tafels en stoelen, maar zetten ze aan de kant als we ons een beetje dancy gaan voelen.

We maken ons op voor de derde editie van onze geliefde Sonoor Luisterbar. Tijd voor een voorjaarsschoonmaak in de platentassen van Ezra V en DJ FRM die op vrijdag 22 maart hun vondsten zullen laten horen.

Ezra V is een elektronische muziekproducer en medeoprichter van het Rotterdamse label en collectief 'Bound Centre'. Hij stapt graag naar buiten voor nieuwe sonische avonturen - van live sessies tot speciale cassette releases. Dit klinkt misschien als een wandeling in het park, maar het is verre van een ontspannen wandeling. Hij is altijd op zoek naar de juiste balans tussen moderne clubsounds en zijn liefde voor de meer sfeervolle ambient tracks en noise muziek.

Naar buiten gaan is goed voor de geest en DJ FRM is als die frisse wind in de Rotterdamse muziekscene. Met zijn Operator Radio show 'Full Range Motion' oefent hij de oren van de luisteraars met bijzondere samenwerkingen tussen getalenteerde artiesten en vrienden. Zijn werk bij de Clone Records familie helpt hem om een aantal van de meer zeldzame releases te pakken te krijgen, vaak vertaald in zowel doordachte en naar binnen gerichte momenten als meer high-energy en hypnotiserende techno sets. Hij heeft echt zijn eigen weg gevonden door een konijnenhol van verbazingwekkende muziek.

The Forest Talks is een tweedelige kunstpresentatie van schrijver Dirk Vis en kunstenaar Timaeus, die beiden een gedeelde fascinatie hebben voor het Poolse oerbos Białowieża. Ze zijn er op verschillende momenten gekomen, gegaan en hebben er gewoond als onderdeel van hun maakproces voor verhalen en films, en ze zullen enkele van hun ervaringen achter de schermen presenteren. Timaeus' laatste film "Martyrs of the Anthropocene" (te zien op IFFR) is deels daar opgenomen, terwijl Vis verschillende 'natural science fiction'-verhalen heeft gebaseerd op zijn ervaringen in en met het bos. Er is tijd voor een korte lezing, vragen en discussie rond het thema van het pratende bos.

During Museumnacht010, our new exhibition Design Sediments, curated by artist and designer Leo Orta and Centre Pompidou design curator Olivier Zeitoun will be open to view. In addition to the exhibition, a screening will be shown in the small cube.

Soundtracks of No Return is a non-linguistic performance consisting of melismatic lamentations, and sonic landscapes between artists Ayo and Yanik Soland. The collaboration between these artists weaves diverse cultural threads and subjective influences into an emotive pilgrimage transmitted through glass-blown and hand-fabricated sculptures.

The next edition of Sonoor Listening Bar is here. Get ready to submerge in an ocean of sound with 恵杜 Katie and Mowgli on Friday 23 February.

As a Tokyo-born dj, Katie translates her own cultural roots into musical expression. She is well known around Rotterdam for performances with a wide spectrum of styles -from lush ambient to more funk and groove - so we’re curious what might bubble up from her record bag.

Like a fish in the water, Mowgli brings seemingly endless combinations of funk and boogie from the 80’s, Italo disco and earlier Chicago house. The waters really do run deep with his record selection, because he also loves to lean towards dark and the gritty leftfield sounds. Ride the wave with us, it’s worth it.

A listening session is nothing without audiophile-grade speakers. Returning once again are the custom, hand-crafted speakers from Huidenclub resident and designer Jonas Lutz. He’s constantly updating the system, so returning visitors might find themselves immersed in something completely different each time around.

Join us on Saturday 3 February for an exclusive Art Rotterdam Party hosted by the Huidenclub for Rotterdam Art Week 2024. We will welcome Rotterdam-based DJs dirtydms and Helmond Lang to the decks for a dynamic b2b set and a night of dancing.

Dirtydms finds herself between inflated chromatic artworks and a wide selection of contemporary electronic productions, part of a rich niche of talents rooted in Rotterdam's nightlife community. From ambient to grime, idm and footwork, dirtydms portrays that broad colourful spectrum typical of a 3D designer, experimenting all possible intersections within digital art.

Rotterdam-based Helmond Lang is always looking for the right contrast to create a new kind of balance. As a stylist she combines stylistic elements with different histories; a mindset which also extends to her musical taste. Highly influenced by the UK scene she mixes sounds inspired by Hiphop, Jazz, Dub, Reggae, Jungle and everything in between. Combining this with more contemporary bass focussed IDM, she knows how to create eclectic and unique sets.

As part of our Rotterdam Art Week programme, kitchen collective SÄFV will be hosting a special pop-up restaurant from Friday 2 and Saturday 3 February.

Every year the Huidenclub invites a young, promising chef collective to host a pop-up restaurant during Rotterdam Art Week. This year SÄFV, a travelling restaurant concept of four friends, is organising a special 3 course vegetarian dinner at the Huidenclub. SÄFV organise themed dinners at unique locations throughout the year. At long tables, set with antique tableware, guests are encouraged to make new friends and connections over seasonal dishes.

Design Sediments gathers together fourteen artists and designers who explore the contemporary dimensions of sedimentation and larger-than-human time scales. Through this careful selection of works deriving from material research, Design Sediments projects possibilities for sedimentary pasts and futures through a weaving entanglement of temporalities embedded within objects and their polychronic reality.

FOCUS Luistersessies & luisterclub join forces as ‘Sonoor’ - new monthly listening sessions at the Huidenclub. Join us as we touch down for the first edition on Friday 22 December from 20:00 onwards.

At Sonoor, we invite selectors and artists to enter into dialogue with combinations of audiophile tech, and friends in music, to venture into the weird and wonderful corners of sound. For this edition we have invited 0906 - wouter & Jeff Solo. These two legendary local selectors will curate the evening.

We will enjoy the audio journey through the beautiful custom, hand-crafted speakers made by designer & Huidenclub resident Jonas Lutz.

Join us on Friday 24 November for the presentation of new collection by POViS.

POViS captures the uncomfortable duality of identity in his new collection 'The Familiar Other'. He explores the split in character during adolescence when habits, rituals or clothes from our younger lives start to feel off and no longer like our own, or the condition of living in a different city or as part of a diaspora where one's demeanour doesn’t match the outside reality.

Throughout the evening there will be two back-to-back screenings of film 'The Familiar Other'.

On Thursday 2 November we are very excited to bring you our next Masterclass with Huidenclub residents Supertoys Supertoys.

The art duo are all set to host this insightful evening showcasing the profound infusion of Radical Cuteness into their artistic language, all while diving into the merging of the digital and physical realms within their intuitive approach. Supertoys Supertoys will delve into some of the opportunities, constraints and inherent tensions that surface when working across both the digital and physical realms and talk about how their mission and vision regarding their concept of Radical Cuteness came about.

Occult Economics aims to uncover the absurdity that can be found in today's global financial systems by questioning its idea of value. Join us on Saturday 18 November for the launch of new book by Silvio Lorusso entitled What Design Can’t Do.

Design is broken. Young and not-so-young designers are becoming increasingly aware of this. Many feel impotent: they were told they had the tools to make the world a better place, but instead the world takes its toll on them. This book probes the disillusionment that permeates design. To depict this disheartening crisis, he crafts a new critical vocabulary for readers to build upon.

There will also be delicious tajines by De Duurzame Wereldkeuken available after the book launch, as the opening of Occult Economics begins.

In September, a devastating earthquake hit Morocco. Some of the worst affected communities were the Amazigh villages, deep in the remote Atlas Mountain region where houses and infrastructures were destroyed. Now winter is approaching and many people still do not have somewhere warm or sheltered to sleep. On Wednesday 15 November we will host the second iteration of fundraiser dinners hosted by Lebanese architect-designer-chef Micheline Nahra and South African designer Billy Ernst. The duo will be serving delicious Middle Eastern food, made from recipes handed down by Micheline’s grandmother.

Next week on Saturday 8 July the Huidenclub will become a venue for this year’s North Sea Round Town programme when we will welcome Lucija Gregov @lu_ci_____. Gregov develops projects and conducts research in the fields of classical music, electro-acoustic music, noise, improvisation, experimental music, radio and sound art. At Huidenclub she will play an acoustic solo cello set.

On Thursday 6 July we welcome image-maker and researcher Pim Top @pim_top for our next Masterclass. Pim will join us for an evening of discussion as he takes us through a presentation of his works and shares insights into his creative process. Come with your questions and intrigues, Pim has a lot of knowledge to share!

On Friday 30 June we welcome Mandy Pixel @mandy.pixel and Val Clipp @val.clipp to the Huidenclub decks. Committed to subverting frameworks of what is considered 'normal' or 'familiar', these two artists will recontextualise the world around them through honed techniques of sampling, dubbing and meshing together of sound.

Trum’s work exists at the intersection of art and design, engaging material research of paint and mark-making techniques. We couldn’t think of anyone better to kick off this new programme than Rotterdam staple Mowgli @mmmowgliii and Amsterdam-based Little Miss Freedman @naamafree. These artists will be serving sounds from across the sonic spectrum, from the full and groovy to the dark and gritty.
